Tips for surviving summer.

SUMMER IS WELL AND TRULY HERE. except the fact that we in England still have a lot of rain...

So I thought that it was the perfect time to give you all my top 5 tips for surviving summer 2014.

1. Drink plenty of water.
Now I know this is the big thing to do and everybody tells you to drink lots of water to stay hydrated but it is so true! Water is a lovely refreshing drink that will keep you hydrated all day. I normally actually don't like drinking a lot of water but when I put it in this cute tumbler with some ice and a slice of lemon, I am loving on it all day long!

2. Don't stay inside all day long.
I know the temptation, the feels and let's face it the Sims. Summer only happens once a year however so go out with your friends, family and dog and enjoy the time that you have. (you can still play on the sims... just at night time ;) )

3. Take it easy.
This is your summer, You don't have to have something on every single day. Thats what the school term is for when you have the homework and the end of term deadlines. Chill out everyday for the next six weeks if you want to. DONT STRESS ABOUT IT ALL!

4. Try something new.
This could be a new activity, a new food (mine has been cockles.. not sure what I think) or even just a new lipgloss that you can go back to school with in September to tell all your friends about!

5. Try not to wear a full face of make up.
I normally try to use bb cream or even just concelear to cover up my dark circles instead of a full coat of foundation in the summer. This means that I am not sweltering under my make up and it gives my skin a chance to breath!

Until next times

This is my favourite soup in the world, it is super easy to make and super delicious to eat!

Ingredients:
  • 3 Potatoes
  • 700 ml of Chicken Stock
  • 200g Red lentils
  • 1 clove of Garlic (chopped)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 carrots (sliced)
  • Optional: Handful of chopped chorizo

1. Once all the vegetables are chopped (carrots, potatoes, garlic and onions) sweat them in a pan for about 5 minutes on a medium heat.

2. Wash the lentils for about 5 minutes. Only do this if necessary check the pack beforehand to see what the recommend doing.

3. Add the lentils and vegetable stock and bring the pan to the boil.

4. Lower the heat, cover and simmer for about 35 minutes.

5. Blend and serve.

This soup is perfect for an occassion whether it's a tea time treat or a winter soup to enjoy at work in those colder months.

Things that I would tell my 10 year old self.

Now I am on my jolly summer holidays, I have had more time on my hands which has lead to looking at some old photos of me as a child. Which then lead me to thinking about a time when I really struggled with life when I ten. So I then got to thinking what if I could travel back in time and talk myself out of it. This is what I would say...

Don't Panic.

Now matter how much you cry or moan about it, your ginger hair will be there until you eventually die it.

Your dreams will come true sooner than you expected even if you think that they are too wild and extravagant.

Year six SATS are not the end of the world. Wait for GCSES... But then actually wait for A-Levels.

Wear your glasses now because otherwise you will have to wear them full time when you grow up. It's not the best of things.

Your feet are going grow into big foot. Be Prepared.

Don't have your heart set on one career decision, you will change your mind many more times.

Not having a tamagotchi isn't the end of the world.

Neither is not having heelys. You would probably break your leg anyway.

The only way is up.

So I hope you enjoyed this today, something different. Until next time

The city of my dreams.

“Follow your dreams. I am not saying it’s going to be easy, but I am saying it’s going to be worth it.'' – Moffat Machingura

So if you have been reading my blog for a while now you would know that last month I was in New York City, which is a city that I have dreamed of going to ever since I was a little girl. I have always been a fan of following your dreams and not letting anybody get in the way of it. So here are some of my favourite pictures from the trip.

                             Statue of Liberty

                            Times Square

                               Brooklyn Bridge

View from the Top of the Rock

                                   Times Square

Times Square with some yellow taxi's

(I did also meet postman pat whilst I was at the airport but you can check that out on my instagram!!)

Hope you enjoyed an insight into my holiday, if you would like me to do a haul with some of the things that I bought whilst I was away then let me know!

Until next time
