My Carry-On Essentials.

I leave for America in few weeks so I have packing and putting together the final pieces that I need to take with me.

Here are my essentials for my carry-on luggage..

1. Blanket - I know that all long haul flights provide you with a blanket but those are small and pathetic so I like to take my own so that I can snuggle down and enjoy the on-demand movies and occasionally try and get some sleep!

2. Pillow - Whenever I go on a long distance journey I also take a pillow with me, for my journey to america I was bought a delightful bear pillow pet which is so comfy. (also again I don't like the ones that they give you on the plane!)

3. Purse - So I can spend all the money that I don't have in duty-free.... whoops.

4. Passport - urm well it can be pretty hard to leave the country without it!

5. Headphones/earphones - For the plane I like to take both headphones and earphones because I like to use them both throughout the flight. I start off with the headphones but then as I get tired I like to switch to the earphones so that I can be more relaxed and I don't hurt my head.

6. Hand Sanitizer - planes are full of so many germs! So I always take some hand sanitizer with me just to make sure that I don't pick up anything bad.

7. Moisturiser - Your skin gets so dry on an aeroplane, so I ALWAYS take moisturiser with me and put a good amount on half way though the flight and touch it up just before landing so that my skin looks as good as it did getting on the plane as it does getting off the plane.

Packing do's and dont's

So recently I have been travelling for some short trips to see people and have become very able to pack light. Then I thought about the dos and donts for packing.

DO - Make a list.
Its important to make a list before you pack so you only take the necessary stuff with you (then you can use it on the way home to make sure you haven't forgotten anything) I find this really useful because I am quite good at overpacking.

DONT -  take you whole make up bag.
Now I understand it can be quite easy just to throw your whole make up bag into your suitcase and be done with it. But do you actually use it all?! Probably not... What I like to do is just take the essentials  and pop them in a small bag inside my wash bag. Saves so much space!

DO - Take a carrier bag for dirty washing.
There is nothing more difficult than having lots of dirty washing and nowhere to put it. (And you certainly don't want to mix it with your clean clothes) so I like to pop in a carrier or bin bag, depending on how long I am away for and then when you get home you can just take it out straight away and get it washed :)

DONT - just throw the clothes into the suitcase.
Not all hotels have an iron or ironing service available so its important to make sure that your clothes don't get creased or wrinkled. Once less thing to worry about

DO - print everything off.
Its helpful when you get to your destination to make sure that you have every detail avaiable. So this includes hotel details, booked activities etc. Most people like to just have the emails on their phone or tablet but it can be a good idea to have a back up on paper just incase.

DONT - leave all your electronics lose. Lastly dont leave all your cables lose because they just get attached to all your clothes. You can buy specialist bags to put them in but I like to put them in a clean make up bag which does the same but for less money!

I hope you guys found this useful,
Until next time
